Areas of Specialization

Gloomy Landscape

Trauma

Trauma results from experiences that overwhelm our capacity to cope. Most people think of an event like a serious car accident, sexual assault, or being held at gunpoint. A lesser known understanding of trauma is the impact of being in prolonged state of distress or repeated interpersonal injuries over a period of time, especially during key developmental stages (as in childhood). AAPI Issues

While I see people from all backgrounds, I have deep and nuanced understanding of Asian American issues. AAPI identity comes with a complex set of challenges coupled with a lack of access to culturally responsive mental health care. As a 1.5 generation Asian American, I'm proud of the resilience that generations of Asian Americans have shown. Read more

Culturally Responsive Therapy

Counseling cannot be one-size-fits-all. No two people are the same, let alone people from different cultures. Hi, I'm Yin.

I am a licensed professional counselor based in Philadelphia, PA. I became a therapist because I believe that healing and growth should be a part of every person’s life as we strive to become the person we wish to be. Many of my clients come to me after struggling for a long time with symptoms of anxiety and depression, and need more clarity as to what might be contributing to their feelings of distress. I’m here to help you make sense of what’s happening within you and why you are unable to overcome your fears, feel at ease within yourself, find meaning and joy in what you do, and have fulfilling relationships.

My approach seeks to honor each person’s story and recognize the strengths and wisdom that they bring. I strive to create a safe space for my clients to explore their internal world and discover new possibilities.  You will find me reassuring, affirming, never pathologizing, yet fiercely advocating for your physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.

I have over 15 years of experience working with diverse populations across various settings, including community mental health, private practice and church-based ministry. I'm also mom to 2 children, wife, daughter of immigrant parents and a 1.5 generation immigrant myself. My areas of expertise include trauma, anxiety, depression, self-image, identity and relationship challenges.
